Nate Holland Winter Update
What a winter! I've been bouncing around the world on the road since January 2nd. So far 6 consecutive podiums, including X Gold, 2nd at Japanese World Cup, 3rd at Mt. Baker Banked Slalom, Jeep King of the Mountain, and World Championships. I'm now leading the point for the Jeep event and am in second for the FIS World Cup overall. I need a little bump and I'll have the title. I'm looking forward to going home to regroup for two days on Feb 26-27th. Not long, but I'll make it count. From there I'll continue to travel and compete until the end of March. It's been a hectic but productive winter so far. Had my fair share of powder days as well, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Japan. Rock The World! N8

Fun in the sun!

I gotta say, the weather is quite nice right now. I decided take a few half pipe shots today of Bobby Witty. I met up with Bobby and his dad along with little brother Nicky today at the U-ditch provided by Northstar at Tahoe. The pipe was freshly cut and ready for shredding. Local Tahoe boy and rad redhead ski shred Sean Fields was also in attendance. The boys were boosting and it sure was fun documenting the ariel maneuvers.

Aspen Open
Hey! Just got back from the Aspen Open...gotta say, one of the most chill and laid back competitions i've ever been to! Sure the competition was fierce, but everybody was out there just havin fun and the courses were so nice! As all of you guys know, we were in the X games slope and pipe, and the slope course made for the funnest comp i've been in! especially the gap jump. And the pipe, not the tallest walls, but definitley one of the longest pipes I've riden! Every one of us had to adapt and try to think of more tricks we could put into our runs what with about 3 extra hits. In the long run, i came out 15th in slope and 9th in pipe in my heats. Now i just know what to practice for for later! You live and learn!

Tahoe's four letter word
Yeah, its been a while since we could say this dirty four letter word round these parts but SNOW has finally made its way back. The weekend gave us some hope that we could actually eak a winter out of this season. But I really can't say this season has sucked. There were some great chalky snow days, and it really threw the hammer down on those who had the skill versus those who did not. Which made it more gooder for those who knew where to find the goods. Also the metal has been quite nice as well. Most of the area mountains have recognized the need for better parks and this dry spell has really shown who has and who has not focused on that need.
Nothstar... what can you say but fun. Squaw, compared to years past I would say they deserve an honorable mention for the updated park features. Alpine, the word is that they are doing some really good work over in the meadow. Homewood, poor little homewood, I last rode there christmas day and I honestly can say it was one of my best days this season, but on the park side of things well, can't do much when there isn't much snow. But I love that little mountain anyway. Sugarbowl, our own team rider Devin "the dude" price works over there and word is that JP is building a great park this year. Boreal... well the whole hill is a park so how can you go wrong.
Now that snow is here its time to venture away from the parks till the spring time.

Andy Finch Post Surgery Update
Whats worse than dislocating your wrist at x games? Getting a big wet kiss from Palmer at the Monster party. Scary things happen at the Monster party.
This is me enjoying some pain killers after a 2 1/2 hour surgery, that was supposed to be an hour surgery on my wrist. i got in tight with the nurses and they let me wear my beanie through surgery for some extra style points. i had two screws put in my lunate bone and 4 external pins that stablize my wrist so that it can heal. the way i dislocated my wrist falls into a small 1% of ways you can dislocate a wrists, and my hand specialist doc had never seen anyone do it the way i did. leave it to me to have the most serious possible wrist surgery that you can have.Words by Mr finch, Nice one finger typing and get well soon!

Farty Pants
The best link was sent our way via Eric Wallace. Farty Pants are underwear for protection against bad human gas (malodorous flatus) and are made from a soft air-tight fabric (polyurethane-coated nylon). To maintain the air-tightness, elastic is sewn into the material around the waist and both legs. According to Eric "I just bought some of these with the replaceable filter. Amazing technology actually muffles the sound and charcoal filters your farts." Buy em before they are gone.

Queen's Cup
www.queenscupopen.com
This weekend (Feb. 3-4th) be sure to check out the Queen's Cup in Park City, Utah. It will be the second annual all women's slopestyle and halfpipe event. Last year it was an eye opener for many and this year it's going to go off. The event get's plenty of coverage so if you aren't in the area, you'll be able to check it out elsewhere. Being the first all girl's ski event, it has been designed to bring more females into the sport. There are 15 invited pros who team up with 4 amature riders each and compete as a team. Last year the after party went down with DJ Marc Frank and DJ Knuckles, this year Swollen Members will kick it off. If you're a chick...might be too late to get in, but check the website for next year's event.

Airblaster Goodness
I have seen enough airblaster leg bags on the hill and in local photos to have to mention it. Not to try and push it as a sales point but more to just discuss the humor in seeing the leg bags on the hill. Seems to be the new steeze in town and more of an underground flare. I really have not seen many of the tourist crowd sporting the fancy accessory but the local kids like the leg bag and leash a lot. With its bright colors and unique 80's flash back colors I think it takes a special rider to pull off this look. Next time your on the hill check out who's sporting these funny accessories.
