South Lake Tahoe Fire
The family decided to have a little get together at Tahoe Park Beach. I had no idea that a fire had started but once we started down 89 I couldn't believe the plume of smoke. Once we arrived at the beach for the cookout you could see giant plumes puffing from south lake. It was amazing to watch heavenly get completely covered in smoke. From time to time you could even see flames hopping along the ridge line. If you know where the beach is in relation to south lake it was amazing to see flames from that distance. We listened to fire engine after fire engine racing towards south lake to battle the fire. I can only hope that no one has been injured and everyone has gotten a chance to evacuate to a safe place.

The Lake Tahoe Basin is a high-hazard fire environment. Infact, it’s not a question of “if” wildfires will occur, but “when.”And, as the population in the Basin increases, the likelihood ofhuman life and property loss is great and growing.
Perhaps surprisingly, the most critical resource for minimizingdestruction by wildfire is not the firefighters. It’s the homeowners.Research strongly suggests that,by learning about the fire environment, taking appropriate “pre-fire”actions and making preparations
for an actual wildfire threat, you can significantly improve home survivability.
Wildfire Threat Firefighters recognize weather, topography and fuel as the three components that determine:the likelihood of a wildfire start its speed, direction and intensitytheir ability to extinguish it For the most part, the weather and topography are out of your hands.

Questioning Intelligence...
With summer upon us I finally get the chance to watch the out of towners (gapers) try their luck at our now infamous round abouts. I guess growing up in the mid west seeing those good ole rounders out here didn't surprise me. The are a dime a dozen ranging in shape (they may be called round about but some of the round shapes are questionable) and size but all of them have a flow and a YIELD sign. Which raises the question, do Californians know how to drive? I heard the jokes about the traffic in CA but to watch people try and navigate our round abouts is freakin hilarious. No one seems to know when to yield and when not to. Or better yet just gun it and hope the person whose has the right away stops... Please learn the rules of the road before traveling to the lake this summer so traffic can keep flowing!

before you question intelligence...please make sure you spell intellingence correct! Dammit all to hell. Come on fella. I can't agree more, learn how to read the signs and roundabouts can be your friend.

Lake Tahoe Golf Update
Alright... So I won't give the name of the course I played but I know its not the only one thats hurting.
I love paying golf in Tahoe. The altitude allows the ball to travel just that much further to make anyone feel great about their game. So with that being said I was amazed by the poor conditions of the course that I played yesterday. Normally that might be a tipoff for some of the smaller courses but this was one that usually is one of my favorite. I saw dandelions on one of the par 5 fairways... growing up in the midwest you might see them on our local course but never on a premier course. Needless to say we played winter rules because your ball would find hole after hole. Also the greens looked like the winter was extremely cruel with hard freezes and early thaws followed by freezes. I would love to play there again but not until they get the course in much better shape. So I guess for now winter rules are still effect.

I love Summer
I love Tahoe Summer time. When the weather still requires a light sweatshirt at night but you still feel the need for a refreshing swim during the day. Yes, we did get some snow last week but thats kind of normal for the first week in June. To be honest I have seen snow in every month here but August and July, but I digress. Back to the summer since we really had nothing good to say about this past winter. Unlike winter Tahoe summertime really doesn't need much in the way of weather to be perfect. So, if your tired of having to spend everyday all day in the AC venture into the hills to enjoy summer the way it should be.
