Errol Kerr and Ski Cross: February 2008
I’m sitting here at home watching it snow tremendously outside. I was supposed to be in Europe right now, but the race in the Czech Republic got cancelled. So now I don’t leave until Thursday, which is going to give me an awesome couple of days here to ski some sweet lines at Squaw.
Last week Thursday I had a ski cross clinic at Boreal. The weather was rather poor, but still about 9 of us battled the weather out there, and a lot of people were excited. So I hope to be able to do something similar in the spring time when the sun is shining.
I know a lot of people made it out to the Squaw Jeep King of the Mountain 48 Straight ski cross race, but if you didn’t, you guys all missed out on an awesome sunny day of some of the best racing that the sport has yet to see. The Ski Cross World Champion Tomas Krauss took home the win, followed by Casey Puckett (first for Americans), and I was able to squeeze out a win in the small final, and take home 5th place (and second for Americans). Fifth was not as good as I had hoped for that weekend. Coming home to my home mountain and my home town, I really wanted to put one in the Finals, and give everyone a good show. But it just didn’t work out.
I’m off to Europe in a couple days. In the meantime, I’ll be out trying to lay tracks where others can’t follow them because Errol Kerr doesn’t sleep. He waits!!
