Milton Reservoir Camping Trip

Milton Reservoir
Saturday Evening the wife and I received a call from some friends about a last minute camping trip for the Jackson Meadows area, more specifically Milton Reservoir. As we all know last minute camping trips can be a disaster. Most of the time you forget all your gear and then you get to the campgrounds and they are all booked. Luckily for us the fires in the area kept a lot of the would be campers away and we luckily found an amazing spot right away. For those who might know where Jackson Meadows is located, Milton Reservoir, or as some other call it Milton Lake is a small runoff man made lake below the Jackson Meadows Reservoir. It's an Anglers paradise, with some fishing restrictions that can make catching fish very challenging. Rules as I understand them were no barbed hooks and flys only which really limits those fishing since Jackson reservoir is pretty much wide open and way easier to get to. We arrived to so left over smoke which quickly cleared but then came the killer Mosquitoes. I grew up back east and have been around some nasty buggers but these guys were relentless. Luckily once the sun went down so did they. The campers who brought their fishing gear in our group only caught two small fish, while the two guys camping next to us (the Brosexuals as Jerry called)only caught one and had been fishing since sun up. We ate, drank, played campfire games and passed out without and crazy bear stories to bring home :( The morning brought an amazing symphony of birds. From what I have been told that area is a bird sanctuary and the birdies were in full blare before sun up. The morning was amazing with no smoke and no killer bugs until it started to warm. If you can get down to the little lake do so before all the other anglers take all the good spots.
