As Kasey has stated, we finally wrapped up our trip to Hood. We had set out to accomplish a goal and I think we did well considering the obstacles we had faced with Timberline resort. Special thanks to Windells and High Cascade for helping us out and to Curtis at Santa Cruz for riding some of the Santa Cruz product we had to finish. I gotta say that shredding Hood is quite fun! The camps were full of enthusiastic minishreds and plenty of terrain features to suit your riding style. We spent most of our time in the public park accessible by the Magic Mile chair. Lots of snow top to bottom and no hiking out. I tell ya what though, after months of not being on my snowboard, I can definitely say that my muscles I haven't used in a while are in shock.
On our last day of riding we did loose a soldier due to some food poisoning. Dave woke up in the middle of the night hurling! It was so violent it woke me up. That left the rest of the riding up to Rom, Zak, Kasey & I. We didn't have much left to do, but it sucked loosing Dave cause we were ready to have some shredding for ourselves. Before Dave experienced his sour stomach, he was able to skate at Windells and we got a sweet tree ride shot (Check Photos).
If you haven't met Zak Shelhamer, I suggest you do. He's a barrel of laughs and a great person to road trip with. The day before our last day of testing, Zak experience some personal equipment failure which he was proud to share with everyone in the Timberline parking lot (see photos). Unfortunately, on our drive home, Zak also experienced some sour stomach and hurled in the parking lot. It looked like Zak had some Hostess snowballs for dinner or something...it was pretty bad.
Rom Marcucci, our Full-Tilt rep and resident "Tundra Wookie" hunter can be found and more quality establishments on the prowl. Poor Rom, being the only skier, was subject to countless personal attacks which he graciously took in stride.
Kasey had lots to deal with this past month and handled this trip like a champ. After getting into a car accident, dealing with RV rental insurance issues, dealing with web guy who almost gave her a stroke, and 4 boys on this trip she deserves some down time. Can I get an Amen?!
I'm out and you'll see the finished product of our efforts online shortly. It's good to be home!
