Coyote Moon Golf Course

Last Saturday the man behind Porter's "Premiere" motto Mr. Harley Chapman (Sr. VP) treated Johnathan Dejong (our hardgoods buyer Jason Dejong's younger brother)and a Mr. Shaydar Edleman MT Manager for Boreal Ski Resort and myself, to a friendly round of golf at Coyote Moon in good ole Truckee Ca. With all that said I can actually get down to what went down on the golf course. Harley is a man that loves friendly competition so he set-up a few guidelines for the round, first we played a two man scramble (best ball), second the teams were myself and John, Harley and Shaydar, third no strokes were given to favor any team (this ones important). First a little background about the golfers playing in the match, myself, I enjoy golf but I am not claiming any handicap, Johnathan is in about the same boat and still working to correct some swing issues and Harley rounds out the non handicappers and still has a great athletic approach to his game even though he may try and pull the senior card out from time to time. Now to Shaydar, he is an 8.2 handicapper and has done some caddying on the side and plays regularly throughout the summer when he is not busy putting up new lift towers. So as anyone can tell this was a fair fight from the get go.

On to the course itself, Coyote Moon is an amazing golf course. Nestled in a valley right before the massive Tahoe Donner starts, Coyote Moon offers a view to the surrounding Truckee area that many visitors many never see. Pro tips on the course even give you famous landmarks as targets to aim towards. Do not be fooled that this is a friendly course by any means, this is a shooters course that demands good shots from drive to chip, but golf is about fun and enjoyment right?

So off the first tee all seemed like it was going to be a great day of golf with good competition but after nine holes team hackers realized that we had no chance at handing Harley a defeat that he sorely needed. Jonathan and I worked hard to keep pace but Shaydar rarely makes mistakes and with him coaching Harley shot selections they were an unbeatable force, Harley even sunk a nasty 20 footer for birdie.

I really feel there is no need to venture any further into team Hackers sound defeat and rather I think we should really focus on our individual achievements. Johnathan had a few good pokes including a great 5 wood on hole 1. Harley, well Harley had some great shots as well but mentioning them might boost his ego too much and I need to make sure I have a fighting chance the next time we golf (I mean he made a sick 20ft put). And Shaydar, well lets speak of the one mistake he actually made when I was finally able to get into his head b/c other than one mistake he played flawless golf and if we kept score his front nine would have been close to a 38 (that’s nasty).

Play Coyote Moon it’s a little pricey but sometimes you need to treat yourself to the finer things in life.
