Chas Reflects on Japan.

Wow there is so much to say about this awesome trip I took. first off i love japan because all the respect i was given while i was there. i went there with my buddies Torstien and Taylor. we had a smooth flight and a easy bus ride to the hotel, the next thing you know I'm in my baller room sitting on the nice heated toilet seats.
We had a nice next day cruising around Tokyo shopping banging on drums and taking pictures. that night the whole crew of competitors that were there for the x trail jam got together for dinner i was sitting at a table across from shaun white,Terje, jamie lynn and 15 more of the best riders in the world it was so sick i couldn't believe that i was there for real.
The next day was training and the tokyo dome was very unique. The setup was very fun and catered to me nicely. ends up my last trick i threw that day was a first. I went for it, the doubleback! one and a half flips later i was face first into the knuckle with my face, good thing I had my helmet on. i was all right and i felt really good about the setup.
The next day i ate a huge breakfast with torstien, Terje, and his son it was very entertaining i couldn't beleive i was hanging with my idol. before you know it i was dropping in the scaffolding jump and hitting the quarterpipe in front of 35 thousand people, it was so nuts. i cruised through the jam sessions landing in third in the first two then it was shaun white, petu pirronen, risto matilla and my self in the final jam. i tried my best and pulled some stylish rodeos and Mctwist's at one point 35 thousand people were screaming my name it was so unreal. i ended up in second place behind shaun white and in front of petu. i soaked em both with a bottle of bubbly... it was amazing, such a good feeling to be on the podium let me tell ya.
The big day had finnaly arrived it was the big air contest with an estimated 50 thousand people to be watching, same routine as the day before but this time we were displaying our skills on the jump. I pulled all my tricks out in the first round except the back 12. I cruised on into the semi final were i threw everything i knew including a stompy back 12. everyone rode great and we all awaited the results to make it into the 4 man superfinal, they called out the names torstien horgmo, shaun white, petu pirronen and.................nicolous muller. i didnt make it in. It was hard but in the same instance i got fifth place and i was happy about the way i rode. so i watched the event from the sides and torstien won it so it was still very sick.
The last part of my story i will tell you is my experiance at the afterparty that night, I sang my my "Miss American Pie" in front of 450 screaming fans acapella by my self. i made my round through the claustrophobic crazy groping crowd a bunch of times to show love to all my new fans it was so sick to have people loving me so much. and to top of the night and the trip as a whole i got to have a long conversation with bryan iguchi and jamie lynn it was so sick to be talking with these guys that i have looked up to for so long. That made my trip, it was so fun and unique i cant wait to go back in jan.
