Squaw Valley Pow Explosion of Fun
Question... Where did everyone go? Why was there no lines at Squaw today?
Why did I have enough time to take my time getting to granite this morning and still hike to the peak and get first tracks down between the 2 buttresses?
I really don't care what the answer is, all I know is that I had waist deep turns down granite... Yeah that's right and it seems that everybody didn't think today was going to be any good. I was able to walk up to the funitel at about 9:05am and walk right into the first car that went by with no pushing or shoving. I made my way towards Shirley Lake and made a quick run down the Tree run 5. Check the video above for the run through the trees. Then hit granite for an epic peak decent... WAIST DEEP and I rode my 155 rockered Smokin today. This was some of the lightest and deepest snow that I have seen in a while. I went from Granite to a little Sun Chute diversion and was really surprised that it wasn't as bony as I thought it was going to be. We headed towards Headwall chair and hit up the various zones below the chair, including the Bullet, Sun Bowl and hogsback. The day ended with some fun times off the Siberia ridge to more faceshots... The morel of the posting is that you should stay and take a chance, well that and if you live here what happened this morning? I mean its not like is was superbowl sunday or a major party weekend....
