Low Key Cocktails & Dinner….Until We Got The Boot
One of the coolest people you’ll ever meet is Johan Malkoski – Head of Sales Prevention at C3 Megasuperconglomeratecorp. That’s CAPiTA snowboards, Union bindings, and Coal headwear for those new to the game. Johan always makes me chuckle with his very dry and sarcastic Mass-hole humor.
Well one of the first nights of the recent SIA SnowSports trade show in Las Vegas Johan grabbed our Porters crew of about 10 and threw in Bennie from Milosport, Trevor our NorCal Burton tech rep, ParkerHoldenOn from Burton Message Board fame, and several other peeps.
Johan then wanted to sneak away for a “low key” dinner at Nobu sushi in the Hard Rock. Dinner was great. Conversation was great. Seeing Jimbo Morgan in the booth next to ours was sweet. Then Mark Frank Montoya rolled in to the table across from us with a small crew. We also saw Pat Moore at a table across from us and Ben motioned for him to come over. Jimbo had already graciously joined us and bought us a shot of awesome sake.
Well somewhere in the high fiving and having a good time, words got exchanged across the table between Pat Moore and MFM. Both dudes know each other obviously, so some laughing and joking – like often happens with too much alcohol – somehow escalated into tension. Of course everyone quickly said “woah, woah, woah” and both sat back down and everything was OK. Like it wasn’t even that big deal of a deal and quickly got handled.
3.5 minutes later, though, in rolls the Hard Rock security and tells both of our tables to get out. So we did…..right over to the infamous “Circle Bar” where shots got bought and everyone kissed and made up.
