CHAS GULDEMON END OF SEASON INTERVIEW

You traveled the world this winter to chase the TTR and the Burton Global Open titles, what was the most memorable moment of the season?

CG: The most memorable moment of my season was winning both slopestyle and halfpipe at the Asian Open in Bandai Japan. It was insane becuase that was the time when my momentum started to pick up and my head was in a good place. I had such a great time and to come home with two wins was amazing.

We all know you were the contest kid, exactly how many contests did you end up competing in during the 08-09 season?

CG: 23 contests, 9 countries and 65,000 miles

With all those contests under your belt, how did you manage to stay injury free?

CG: I didnt party like a rockstar like I did in years past. I stretched a lot and never stopped working out. I had my head on straight and I knew what I wanted to accomlish. I had it all planned out and that helped a bunch.

With victory comes fame, how do you stay grounded?

CG: I try to give back in any way I can. I always make sure to be thankful for what I am given, and appreciate the path that I am able to follow. Not every person gets to do what they love for a living.

What was the hardest obstacle that you had to overcome this season?

CG: The mental part of the game is the hardest. The road to the top has a lot of bumps, and absorbing them isnt always easy. There is always room for improvement and realizing that is important. In order to accomplish the season that I did I had to be stronger, work on my style, communication, and overall mental strength.

So you ended up winning the US Open slopestyle, The Burton Global Open, and getting 2nd on the TTR World Tour, all in one day, how did that feel?

CG: I honestly felt numb. It wasnt like winning the lottery, I worked really hard for all of 3 of those titles. I just felt really thankful to be in my shoes.

What will you miss most about the winter competition season now that it is over?

Putting down a sick run when it counts. The travels, my friends, the people, I will miss it all really.

What is next for you?

CG: I am gonna work really hard this spring to put out a video part that my fans will like to watch.

Any words of wisdom for someone who would like to follow in your shoes?

CG: Love yourself. Follow your path, and always make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.

Last but not least who would you like to thank?

CG: Thank you to my fans, Drea, my family, my friends, my sponsors ( DC SHOES, ROCKSTAR, ELECTRIC VISUAL, PORTERS TAHOE, NORTHSTAR RESORT, & KICKER AUDIO), and to everyone else who has helped me along the way!!!!
