Art and Music..I must be in NYC
The beauty of big cities is the ability to find something to do any night of the week. On Wednesday night Jay and I went to the Lower East side and went to the Mercury Lounge, a well known music venue. We knew nothing of the bands that were playing but we payed the $10 cover and we were not disappointed, We arrived and the 3rd band was just finishing up. When the forth band took the stage the lead singer had a Daisy Duck hat on and I looked at jay and said " this band is going to be AWESOME!" They are from Detroit and their name is Deastro, and yes Lars this is my new favorite band! Check out the pics of them below. Iwas going to upload a video but it is converting in Vimeo and it says it will be done in 11 hours. Hooray!
Thursday I got up early and jumped on the subway and went to the Museum of Modern Art. Now I understand that not everyone likes modern art, but I think that the MoMA is well worth the time. With works from Picasso and Van Gough to Warhol and Matisse it encompasses all types of modern art and plus it is not everyday you are able to see actual painting by Picasso.
I then met Jay on the west side and we went to a few galleries...needless to say yesterday was ARTastic. Jay then had to go to a meeting for work. The meeting was held at this amazing studio named Milk, click here to check it out. This studio is a place for fashion shoots, magazine shoots and ect. The production manager is a friend of Jay's and he invited us to have a beer after the meeting at the Milk's bar, * note this is not a public bar. It was awesome! Thanks Bevan!
