Christmas is my favorite time of year, but not for the reasons you might think. The gifts, the Christmas spirit, and the eggnog are sweet, but to me it is all about the jibbing. This year in particular is epic. The mid December storms left us with the perfect amount of base. Not too much, to bury the features, and just enough to protect our boards from death by coreshot. For a snowboarder there are more small jumps, bumps, and lumps than I’ve ever seen. Gullies have appeared in places where there were none before, and boulderfields covered just enough to allow passage, are reminiscent of skateparks.

So yesterday after my girlfriend and I opened our presents I headed out to get in some all-time jibbing at Squaw Valley. Here is a little helmet cam from skateboarder alley.
