After some convincing, I was able to get Ruthy to see how much fun can be had in the local swing scene. I have been swinging for a bit longer than Ruth, and I have found the scene very welcoming and the experiences rewarding. My friend and neighbor, Doug, introduced me to swinging. He is really into it, he has swing parties and stuff and swings with all sorts of people in the neighborhood, he swings with men and women and even reaches out to other neighborhoods. It is really a blast. I did not realize all this was going on around me until one day, over at Dougs house, I just opened my mind to it, ignored all the stigma it carries and gave it a try.
