Where is Skiing Going?

Well its a arguable issue on where the sport of skiing is going these days. Tall tees have certainly gained some popularity over the past few years in the park, and I am sure tight pants are close behind. It seems we have just been copying everything snowboarders do. Although nobody has built a snowboard like a skateboard like Line has built their new park skis.

Anyways this video shows where I think the sport of skiing is going. I remember they did a similar contest called the back 9 a few years back that was similar to this concept of freestyle backcountry. Also there was a snowboard comp called Natural Selection in Jackson Hole that was also similar.

In my personal opinion this is the evolution of the sport. Bashing gates and moguls still surprisingly has some sort of following even though it causes extreme boredom for some of us. This is a short highlight of the Red Bull Linecatcher contest in Vars France. Tahoe local CR Johnson returning to competition after a four year hiatus placed 3rd behind 16 year old phenomenon Sean Petit. Taking down first place was Candide Thovex who had a sick run and has always been a threat in winning any ski contest.

the thing is snowboarders would not post or celebrate a bunch of unlanded tricks. they need to be stomping that stuff

what do you mean Candide landed his winning run and it was huge. At least I am not posting a musical.

oh sorry... I saw one guy land a few tricks. Musical was sweet. Not trying to hate .....but celebrating back flops and hot tub landings I hope is not where skiing is going.
whatevs though...to each his own. peace
