Porters Tahoe Wins The 2010 Shop Battle
So Tuesday morning was an epic powder day and I was a little bummed at first that I was going to miss it to compete in the shop battle. Although it was a beautiful day and I forgot how much fun it is to get out and jib with friends. After the first round and a 15 min contest break we all looked at each other and thought “damn we are doing pretty good”. Peter K was locking in his casual 270’s, Billy Mann front flipped off the up box and Switch backed over the spine. Justin had some solid rails skills and also front flipped off the up box. I was throwing down some traveling circus style tricks like the tail tap on pole flip off, X up grinds, and a few B Slides. Overall we were having a blast and I totally forgot that it was even a pow day.
After it was all said and done I had the best contest food that has ever been supplied in my life. That’s right one of the hardest working reps in the business hooked us up with turkey legs, cranberry sauce, yams, and corn bread. So Thank you Matt Connelly for putting on the event and John Slaughter the head of marketing at Boreal for accommodating all of us and keeping us fed. It was a really fun time and I was stoked that Team Porters came out on top among a strong fleet of 9 other teams. Our time was well over due in claiming the Shop Battle and hanging up that bomb trophy in our stores. The Bomb will be going on tour like the Stanley Cup to each of our store locations before making its final resting place in the Truckee store for Alex brag about until the next years Shop Battle.
Here are a few pictures of the event, there is also a video currently being worked on that I will post as soon as I get it. Until then check out the pictures.
