A Manifesto.
They laughed at us and taunted us in the beginning. They scoffed at our funny contraptions, our funny clothes, our fuck you attitudes and our rebellious demeanors. They kicked us off their hills, made us wear silly little leashes, called us reckless and treated us like we we’re red headed step children.
Yet we persevered. We blazed new ground. We took back the mountains.
Santa Cruz started making snowboards in 1989 for people like Chris Roach, Sean Kearns, and John Cardiel. At the forefront of the snow revolution, these dudes brought skateboard influenced snowboarding to the masses and glued generations of kids to their boards all in the name of schralping.
Today we carry on with their legacy. We’ve got Olympic Gold Medalist, Gian Simmen, World Renowned backcountry/rail assassin, Seth Huot, video star phenom, Jon Kooley, and Arctic Challenge Contender, Iouri Padlotchikov, just too name a few. Add to that an up and coming AM Army that will blow you away one by one. These are just a few of the many ultra talented men and women who live, breathe, and puke Santa Cruz Snowboards.
We never sold out to some kook ski company so we don’t have a sweater vest wearing, rollerblading board of directors. Just snowboards made by and for snowboarders.
We ride because we love too, and nobody can take that away. So while the rest of the snowboarding world strives to be more hardcore, more gangsta, more down, we’d rather spend our time riding and let the boards and the history speak for itself. And while resorts would eventually greet us with our open wallets, cater to our reckless ways, and build us multi million dollar snowboard parks, remember the early days, and remember why you started riding in the first place.
Welcome to Santa Cruz Snowboards.
We’re that dude still sleeping on your couch. We’re the professional seasoned pro, Olympic gold medalists, the annoying grom, the teen phenom and the weekend warrior. We’re the dudes delivering pizzas, cooking your corn dogs in the cafeteria, waxing your board in the shop, the dudes taking a semester off to live the dream, eat top ramen every night, party till 4AM and wake up at 7 for first tracks, and do it all over again the next day. Yes, we’re that dude.
Seek and destroy. Ride everyday as if it we’re your last. There will be plenty of time to rest at the end, so have some major fun on your board with your friends. From parks, to pipes, to fluffy pillow lines – pillage and plunder it all. Learn a new trick, ride a new hill, travel to a far away land and shred there too! And never forget that first feeling of strapping a board on for the first time, that first feeling of floating on powder, or that first feeling of hucking yourself huge to icy flats, slamming hard, and going back up the mountain because you want more.
Have fun. Raise hell.
We’ll see you in line for first chair.
