Squaw Valley Hosts Standard Films AESTHETICA and After Party by FORTRESS

For the first time in years, filmmakers Dave and Mike Hatchett of TB snowboarding fame decided to have the world premiere of Standard Films new AESTHETICA right here in Squaw Valley instead of down in San Diego during the ASR (Action Sports Retailers) trade show.

The doors at Olympic Village Lodge at Squaw Valley opened at 7:30 last night with the movie set to kick off at 8:30. Fuel TV was on hand filming and reporting from the event. The Fuel TV reporters for the night were Tina Dixon and lifetime "Hall of Fame" Porters team rider and legend Jim Rippey. Other sponsors for the night were Porters Lake Tahoe, VAS Entertainment and Squaw Valley USA. As the clock edged towards show time the line to get in was spreading into the parking lot. Soon a roar of applause erupted from inside Olympic Village Lodge. Show time for the first snowboarding movie of the season!

Once inside it was shoulder to shoulder and there was standing room only to watch AESTHETICA. The way that the lodge is laid out gave everyone in every corner a view of Standard's new movie release. Some highlights of AETHETICA included big mountain legend Johan Olofsson's unveiling of Burton’s Nofish...and he was killing the steep and deeps on this bindingless wonder. Also recent Burton Australian Open winner Torstein Horgmo had some amazing shots at Homewood ski resort on the west shore of Lake Tahoe as well as the monster spring jump at Alpine Meadows. Another favorite was Mads Johnsson's part with plenty of fresh powder and steeps. For the rail junkies there was enough urban shredding to feed that need.

To kick off the second half of the night Fortress came out to do some good old metal head banging. Fortress was formed in the early 1990's in Lake Tahoe melding guitar solos by legendary Dave Hatchett, head banging guitarist Brian Harrison, bass by Mike Hatchett and insane drums by Rob Jaeger. Well a little Judas Priest mixed in with some Iron Maiden, Metallica and Slayer had everyone fist pumping, crowd surfing and beer drinking. But the fun didn't stop there. Nope, for those that weathered the onslaught of metal, the reward was a special guest appearance by singer Whitfield Crane of the old Ugly Kid Joe. Their cover of Ozzy Osbourne's "Mr. Crowley" was awesome...as well as several b-side Judas Priest gems. The crowd was hungry and thirsty for metal and Fortress gave it to them for a solid hour and a half.

What a way to kick off the movie premier season and get everyone hyped on the coming winter!!
