2009 Lake Tahoe Marathon With 3 Porters Employees
They started their day on Commons Beach in Tahoe City. They then went down the best shore - the West Shore - on highway 89 past Emerald Bay all the way down to Pope Beach just past Camp Richardson. I got a lot of great pics I think......I'm just bummed that I missed the girls crossing the finish line an hour before Alex :) I was hanging back giving him support.....along with his childhood friend Barr who came up from San Diego just to run it with him.....in a stinkin' cotton t-shirt of all things!

2nd Annual Stand Up Paddleboard Lake Tahoe Crossing
It was already pretty windy in the middle and south of the lake as an unseasonably cold and windy front began to move in, so the starting point was moved to Meeks Bay. Luckily we got a little lull in the wind after sunrise - plus with the bay being more protected - that allowed for a picture perfect start.
However, it didn't take more than a half hour before the storm starting kicking up and heading our way. Quickly the group split into those with enough experience and the right boards to try and out-run it to Kings Beach, while the rest wisely peeled off at Homewood.

Jake Burton Carpenter Wakesurfing Lake Tahoe
Jake Burton Carpenter Wakesurfing on Lake Tahoe from Chappy on Vimeo.
I was going through my computer last night and found this gem of a video clip. This was taken in the summer of 2006 on Lake Tahoe's west shore near Sunnyside Resort.Jake Burton - yes that Jake Burton Carpenter from Burton Snowboards - flew in to Truckee, CA a few summers ago for a meeting with the Northstar-at-Tahoe folks to put the final touches on the Burton sponsored, feature-rich zone called "The Stash".There was a couple hour window after his meeting and before he had to fly down to SoCal, and our Burton sales rep Laurent Vrignaud wanted to squeeze in a quick cocktail at Sunnyside Resort on Lake Tahoe's west shore.....and Jake's first wakesurfing session.
The weather was less than ideal as it was cooler temperatures and a bit windy in the afternoon, so we went around the corner from Sunnyside to Hurricane Bay and made the best of it. This is behind my 2005 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV.
So while Jake didn't have the time and conditions to really dial in a good wakesurfing session, he nonetheless was able to throw the rope in the boat on the third run and, "Check it off the list baby!"

February 13, 2009 Northstar Pow
The day after a amazing Squaw Pow day we had a nice reload last night so off to Northstar for some more pow pow runs. Porters TM and Photo guy Eric Asistin joined me for some fun Northstar laps and some chuckles along the way. Northstar can soemtimes be the left out buddy in the Tahoe region, being over shadowed by larger mountains like Squaw and Alpine Meadows and sometimes get the short end of the stick... Not in our current series of storms!!Finally Lookout and the Backside are getting filled and Northstar is busy getting all the preperations ready for the upcoming Dew Tour!!
Be ready for this weekend and into next week... the Lake Tahoe storm door is open!!
Want to do some of the same fun follow cam shots?? then buy the Go Pro Helmet Cam!!

I only saw about 4 pow slashes and then 4 minutes of just riding straight across a flat run.

Well, I was going to do a post with a lot of pictures from my travels over the past month, but for some reason the internet keeps pooping out and I can't upload any more photos than these two. So I suppose the pics won't really tell the story. Nonetheless, it's been a hectic month of traveling and even though these two photos don't quite give my month long of traveling justice, they will have to do just fine. From Tahoe, Retallack, Mustang Powder, X Games, SIA in Vegas, back to Tahoe, and now off to Colorado...I have a lot of plane stubs, overweight charges, and added miles to my truck.
It's been fun. A complete transition from the filming aspect of skiing to the competition aspect was one of the things that I experienced. It gave me some culture shock (the only way I can think of to describe the feeling that I had after leaving the cozy lodge of Mustang Powder to X Games) and again allowed me to reevaluate what I love about skiing. It's not the bright lights, the interviews, the cameras, and VIP energy drink parties. I'm more interested in the quite life living in my long underwear in the woods only accessible by cat or snowmobile (I suppose these two pictures go along with that part of my story).
After having some difficulty getting into the invite only slopestyle competitions this year (seeing as I didn't compete last year) I've been super motivated to get back on the list. In skiing right now, everything seems to be planned around hopefully getting skiing halfpipe into the Olympics. With that being the case, 2 of our bigger open slopestyle events have been canceled due to lack of funding (US Open, and North American Open). So off to the Aspen Open I go. It will be on the X Games course (which I've been riding on during X for a few days). I'm really looking forward to getting back in the game and feeling the rush that competitions give me. Despite the fact that I don't always like what goes along with competitons, I'll enjoy spending some days in the park and catching up on some reading while at home. I figure I can balance out the hype with some quite time.
Enough writting...sometimes I do that. I hope Tahoe gets some snow! Enjoy the sunny weather while we've got it.

TWO AREAS OF LOW PRESSURE WILL AFFECT THE REGION THIS WEEK. THE
FIRST ARRIVES TUESDAY AND THE SECOND BY LATE THANKSGIVING DAY INTO
EARLY FRIDAY.
RAIN AND SNOW WITH THE FIRST SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO REACH THE
CENTRAL SIERRA ON TUESDAY AND SPREAD INTO WESTERN NEVADA ON
TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY AS THE LOW MOVES ONSHORE. THIS SYSTEM
WILL BRING DOWN SNOW LEVELS TO 5500 TO 6000 FEET ACROSS THE
REGION FOR TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR
SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE SIERRA SOUTH OF LAKE TAHOE
TO MAMMOTH LAKES.
THE TRACK OF THE SECOND SYSTEM REMAINS QUITE UNCERTAIN AS IT DROPS
OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA. FORECAST MODELS ARE INDICATING THIS
SYSTEM COULD MOVE SOUTH ALONG THE SIERRA OR REMAIN JUST OFF THE
CALIFORNIA COAST. HOWEVER CONFIDENCE THAT THE STORM WILL AFFECT THE
AREA LATE THANKSGIVING DAY OR EARLY FRIDAY IS INCREASING. FORECAST
MODELS INDICATE THE SYSTEM MAY LINGER OVER THE REGION INTO SATURDAY...
WITH COLD AND MOIST CONDITIONS. SNOW LEVELS MAY DROP BELOW 5000
FEET IF THE STORM MOVES SOUTH ALONG THE SIERRA WHILE SNOW LEVELS
WOULD BE HIGHER IF THE SYSTEM REMAINS OFFSHORE. THE MOST LIKELY
TIME FRAME FOR POTENTIAL SIGNIFICANT SNOWS IN THE SIERRA IS FROM LATE
THANKSGIVING DAY INTO FRIDAY. LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS MAY BE POSSIBLE
FOR ELEVATIONS BELOW 5500 FEET...INCLUDING PORTIONS OF WESTERN
NEVADA.
IF YOU HAVE TRAVEL PLANS FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY IN THE
SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA...BE PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING
CONDITIONS. CHECK OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.WEATHER.GOV/RENO FOR UPDATES
ON HOW THESE STORMS MAY IMPACT HOLIDAY TRAVEL.

GOOD MORNING TO SNOW!! So hopefully everyone is making out to the polls safely this morning. If you live in the Tahoe area you were greeted with a treat of our first real snowfall. Not that this will be enough to get any of the resorts firing up the lifts but rumor has it that Boreal may have a go at it this Friday. We will keep you posted as Shaydar teases us with Tahoe's first resort to open as they usually do. Hopefully once we get some blue back in the sky later today we can go out and snap some updated shots... just to make you drool!

I'm Not Gonna Do What Everybody Thinks I'm Gonna Do....
After five years of beers, tequila, crashes, broken skis, several sets of stitches, lots of cork footbeds and way to many ski boots fixes, and just generally good times, I'm leaving Porters. To those who thought it would never happen, I say, well... almost.
It's been a wild and fun ride, but now it's time to move on to another position elsewhere in the industry. All I can say is that I've had an unbelievable time working here, I've met a lot of great people, and probably pissed off many more. When I moved to Tahoe in October of 2003, I walked in the door of Porters looking for a job, and aside from the decision to move to Tahoe in the first place, it's been the best call I've ever made. From the end of season parties to trips down to Vegas for SIA; from tent sales, CL Smoothes, and fourth of july roof parties to hot dogs and Mama C's tamales, I'm going to miss the fun times; and I am going to sincerely miss working with every single person in this company. Fortunately, I won't be going to far. Even from my new position I'll still be able to hear Alex getting irritated, Eleanor shouting for Josh, and new warehouse employees hitting the side of the warehouse with the forklift.
So in celebration of the place I've spent an awesome five years, and the people who have made it so badass, here's a small collection of the pix I've accumulated over the years. It's a fun little flashback to a time when some people had longer hair, some had different colored hair, and some just looked thinner, regardless of their hair length or hair color [at that particular point of the season].
I present to you all, the 'Adventures of Porters: 2003-2008', in no particular order. Enjoy....
To everyone at Porters, thanks again for a great time...

segal nobody likes a quiter, but in this case I do. maybe we can go back to being freinds instead of arch rivals due to the overwhelming amount of shit going to stores

Segal...you sound like...should I dare say and Adult? You John are a part of what Porters is today, and always will be. When I look back at people that have made a difference for me personally and for the company
your name isn't shy of the top. And I thank you for that. You will do a bang up job, I know it, we all know it. Best of Luck
-Josh
Good riddance & good luck! You really do look good in a Mullet...If you had a Firebird and and 8ball...I might sleep with you....
Cankles,
I'm gonna miss those bar nights and Alpine/Squaw days...hopefully you're sticking around man. Congrats on the new gig, are they gonna make you cut your hair? Can't wait to see yous again pal. talk to ya soon and good luck!
Here's my only pic of you, sorry, no cankles in this shot
You know that I am going to miss you. I do have a couple tamales for you, but thought you would lose them if I gave them to you last night. Let me know when you will be in the office so I can bring them. I really do hate to see you go, its been fun.
Best of luck,

Martis camp - A Tom Fazio Golf Experience

If I die tomorrow I hope heaven has a golf course exactly like Martis Camp.
Yesterday I was invited to play the newest and already legendary Martis Camp Golf course. For those who have not yet heard about this course... you will. Course designer Tom Fazio creates a true golf masterpiece with this signature course. But now to the catch, this course is not for the everyday Joe who wants to play an epic course. Martis Camp is a private golf experience only for those lucky enough to own a lot or a home in the Martis Camp community.
This course is the hardest golf course I have ever played, period. Every fairway has some sort of undulation and add massive greens that make you feel like your playing putt putt golf, you will be extremely happy to walk away from this course with a score under 100. The front nine offers dramatic views of Northstar and a nice introduction to this amazing ride. One thing you will first notice on the course is the meticulous care the entire course receives. The first cut of rough is better than most fairways and the tee boxes are by far the best I have ever seen. Hole 5 is a par 4, 452 yards (From the Blue/Championship Tees) with the number 1 handicap that will stick with you the entire round. Fail to drive it long and straight and your second shot will fail to make it close to the elevated green. Miss the green and you will find yourself digging out of deep intimidating bunkers. The front nine finishes with another long par 4 that makes one wonder... should I continue to the back nine?
The back nine is the true reason to play this course. The undulation takes an entirely new meaning when you step onto the back 9. Hit the sweet spot on most of your drives and you can easily get up to 50 yards of extra length. Hole 15 is a great example of the undulation, hit high right and watch the ball roll past the intimidating leftside bunkers. The grand daddy is the 18th hole. The view of the future clubhouse home along with Northstar in the background will always place a huge smile on your face as you finish an epic round of golf.
Special thanks to Keith Franke DMB/Highlands Group, LLC - Martis Camp - for making this all happen.
Also to Solomon Aurthur for the call to go play, and Boyde Wenger the final member of the foursome.
Below is a news release from Martis Camp and has Professional Golfers reviews as well.
On June 27, renowned designer Tom Fazio kicked-off the inaugural season of the Martis Camp course which is already getting rave reviews.
"Needless to say, Tom Fazio has designed some pretty amazing courses in his career, but after playing the Martis Camp course, I think this is without a doubt the best Fazio course that I've ever played."
— Lee Janzen, two-time U.S. Open Champion & PGA Tour Professional
"Every hole on this course could be a ‘signature' hole somewhere else, but Fazio saved his official one for last. The par-4, 468 yard, 18th is dramatic, and one of the prettiest holes in Northern California."
— Joel Stewart, writing for ABC Sports
"Growing up in South Africa I have been fortunate to play golf all over the world, and I will tell you that the Tom Fazio design at Martis Camp is one of the most remarkable courses I have ever experienced."
— Tim Clark, Martis Camp Owner/Club Member, PGA Tour Professional, and two-time President’s Cup team member
"I thoroughly enjoyed playing the Fazio course at Martis Camp for the first time. It's in fantastic shape and the views from every hole are spectacular! I've always loved the Lake Tahoe area and am really looking forward to building a home and spending a good part of my off-season here at Martis Camp."
— Ricky Barnes, Martis Camp Owner/Club Member, U.S. Amateur Champion and Nationwide Tour Professional

Today My Wife and I along with our little monkey daughter took a hike into Paige Meadows on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. A friend had mentioned that Paige was going off with flowers so we packed the little one into the car and headed down the west shore for a short drive to the trail head located off Silver Tip in the Talmont subdivision. I would usually start the hike from 64 acres park but since we had a three year old its easier to start right outside the meadow. Before you pack and go make sure you have A. sunscreen and B BUG REPELLENT!! The mosquitos are going nuts with the snow melt finally over. But back to the hike, due to the fires last year the forest service is very actively working on thinning the forests as to not repeat last years destruction. The trailhead was littered with heavy equipment and logs ready to roll off the hill to the mill. I thought that most of the trails would be hard to get to or destroyed but those loggers are doing a great job of not hurting the amazing trail system around the meadows. Once we weaved our way into the meadow we were greeted with the beauty that only a high mountain meadow can offer, and swarming bugs everywhere. The meadows is still pretty wet so be aware that you could get muddy or have to jump across some wet spots, but after you proceed deeper into the meadow you will be greeted with rare flowers that only bloom for a short time. We were amazed at the awesome beauty of colors that were all around us. Our little monkey did a great job hiking with us and allowed some cute shots to be taken as well. Get to Paige Meadows before mother nature dries her up and steals all the flowers till next year.

Now granted - dive down 15 feet and you're back to 59!!
Love it, love it, love it. Get off the couch, grow some balls, and get in the Lake! And who knows, they might shrink up a little, but at least your using them.
Forget about it being cold what about Tahoe Tessie. I wouldn't get in there unless you want to lose a leg.

Hey there all...sorry for the late post. The Stunt ditch action went down yesterday in grand fashion. The Pipe was perfect & the sun was out. It was a little nippy, but everyone seemed to manage. The Pipe is always a great way to cap off a weekend of competition. As expected the guys and gals were boosting and having a grand ole time in a perfectly cut Frank Wells Pipe. Yes, Andy Finch Was boosting along with Danny Kass, Steve Fisher, Mason Aguirre & many more. For the Gals, no one could touch Elena Height..no pun intended but she was going higher, smoother, & techier than the rest of the girls with a backside 9! She won of course and this is 2 years in a row for Elena. Local Gal Ally Carrol made her way into the finals and I was stoked to see her step it up and compete against the big names.
In the mens side of the comp it was definitely a hard call. Kass just busted out of nowhere and put down a 1st run that no one could match. Finch was going richter once again busting the towers & earning highest air honors. Andy also saved himself from death and did a switch layed out backflip which was supposed to be a cab 10 but got stuck on the take off. He had everyone holding their breath as he lay upside down with about 15 ft in the air almost dead sailor, but managed to get it back around and land! Gnarly! Louie Vitto was spinning like a top. Iouri Podlatchikov (Ipod) almost had an identical run to Louie's but went a little bigger. Mason Aguirre has the syliest backside 5 1st hit and frontside nine melon poke I've ever seen. Elijah Teeter is Bob Burnquist on a snowboard, backside 7 1st hit to switch method like no ones business. Tommy Cheszchin, ws machine like as always making everything look like it was produced out of a factory. Everyone had a strong showing and it was definitely a great time! I can't wait for next year.
Men Score Purse Women Score Purse:
1. Danny Kass (Vernon, NJ) 92.1 $20,000
1. Elena Hight (South Lake Tahoe, CA) 92.0 $11,000
2. Louie Vito (Bellefontaine, OH) 90.3 $14,000
2. Lizzy Beerman (Weston,VT) 81.0 $6,500

Kirkwood Private Shop Demo of 2009 Gear
What was good? The party in the Porters condo!! We have a continual supply of East-Coasters that move "west" every season to come to the mecca of riding known as Tahoe. And with them comes some good, ol' fashioned, ingenuity that is born out of the necessity to find fun activities in frigid, long winters at places like the Univeristy of Vermont (UVM) in Burlington (quite conveninetly next to Burton's headquarters).
So with a pick and some hot water, a couple of UVM'ers carved an "ice luge" about 4 feet long into this massive ice melt coming off the roof. Pour a little vodka-cranberry down that sucker.....and repeat.....37 times!!
Awwwwww......good times, good times......

February 1st 2008 SQUAW VALLEY

How many days can we keep talking about pow pow in Tahoe? Is that real question? I was lucky enough to reach the KT line this morning before to many others had arrived in the Valley which allowed me to relax and enjoy the thunderous sounds of explosions all around the mountain. I was surprised at how may bombs they were throwing this morning since it didn't seem like last night was such a large snow event. With a slightly late opening due to ongoing snow safety we all raced as usual to get on chairs and find our lines. As I rode up and started taking pictures I heard a familiar voice and as random squallyworld goes John Huston from our TC store was sitting next to me, its so hard to tell who people are when you're all bundled up. John was rocking the Armada ARG skis and sitting a few chairs behind us was Kyle from the Truckee store spending some time on the K2 Gyrator store demo. Being on the right equipment on a pow pow day is vital and you can always tell who is having more fun than the next guy mainly from know how to choose correctly from the quiver. Huston mentioned that the ARG's were perfect for todays snow conditions but to me they are still funny looking skis. So were started off on KT going towards the alternate chutes but opted for 75 chute instead. Next I hit up tower 16 followed by the sun chutes. And on a hunch me and a my buddy Brahma headed toward the Resort at Squaw Creek and amazingly nobody tracked much of it out. The snow was amazing and should be for days to come and another storm is lined up to hit us Saturday night!!

Squaw Valley Snow Report 01 05 2008
Fast forward to today and I didn't think it could get much better but to start the day with no lines to get on the Funitel and then to be able to hit Sun Chutes first was the best way you could start your day. The Sun Chutes were amazing at the top, wind buff in the middle and epic at the bottom. Next was solitude followed by shirley and finally tower 16. There were no bad turns, the snow is chalky and wind effected and all around amazing. Again the best part... their is nobody around right now due to the holiday last week. Get out and make turns now before the weekend crowds race up 80!

It was nice to wake up to some snow outside this morning, out where I live we usually get the dust while the west shore gets hammered... I am guessing between 6 and 8 inches fell at our house and just up the road up the ole strand some folks got screwed this morning from the plow guy hitting them with a nasty berm.. Ah the west shore days... Kinda miss em but when I see nasty berms I am glad I moved.

The snow is really starting to fly tonight! Just got home from a sketchy drive down Brockway Summit. I went out tonight with Team Rider Silas Stannard and Porters employee Jason "The Dragon Slayer" Kell. This evening was a much more productive night as we decided to stay out of the wind and heavy snowfall to do an urban mission. Our 1st spot wasn't to successful so we ventured on to another location. We worked together and came up with some fun stuff to jib around on and came home with a few bangers!
It was nice to see two contrasting styles, not only riding wise, but in "fashion" tastes as well. Kell was in full head to toe C3 garb & board. Compliments of Capita, Holden & Union. While Silas was running Quiksilver & Neff. Definitely two sides of the spectrum but coming together for a great nigh-time skate influenced jib session.....Get your stick ready cause the snow that is falling is going to be great!

Ok, so its nothing to get super excited about but it seems like a storm almost every week for the past couple weeks and a few more are already lined up in the Pacific. But still, keep the stick in the garage a few more weeks till we really know if it gonna be an early season start or the old Tahoe fooler. Keep your fingers crossed that these storms are only a happy tease to a decent winter!!

If Scott is your destination head left and enjoy a nice fire road that climbs and descends alot. The final turn will be a left that you will not miss, it goes UP. Take this fire road all the way to the top, and it starts out with an easy climb that keeps going up and as you get closer to the top it gets more technical and steeper. But once you arrive at the top you will enjoy amazing views with very limited blockage of your views. The best part of this ride... you get to go back down and its a fun, fast float of a downhill ride. There are so many options to get back home that I just go back to Paige and aim towards Flinstones which dumps you out near Tahoe City Lumber. I wish I could detail the ride better but all in all its a tough ride, bring lots of water and your climbing legs. The ride can be around 17-20 miles with a good elevation gain that tops out at Lakeveiw chair in Alpine Meadows. Don't be afraind to ask direction when your on the trail because you can easily get lost with the vast trail system.

I think someone has done alot of work to the Painted Rock trail this past winter. Depending on the route you go its pretty obvious somebody put in a good amount of time changing the trial. It winds much better through the woods and much of the rocks have been taken out of the route. However the one technical rock (if you done it you know it) is still there. But I must say the ride is still really fun, depending on the route you start from, I like Tahoe City as a starting point. It can be a nice little ride that makes you want more and if your daring you can always veer off towards missing link or go the opposite route towards the elevator shaft. In any sense the traisl are in great shape even though its already super dry everywhere. Oh and don't be like me... buy a spare tube..

The Lake Tahoe Basin is a high-hazard fire environment. Infact, it’s not a question of “if” wildfires will occur, but “when.”And, as the population in the Basin increases, the likelihood ofhuman life and property loss is great and growing.
Perhaps surprisingly, the most critical resource for minimizingdestruction by wildfire is not the firefighters. It’s the homeowners.Research strongly suggests that,by learning about the fire environment, taking appropriate “pre-fire”actions and making preparations
for an actual wildfire threat, you can significantly improve home survivability.
Wildfire Threat Firefighters recognize weather, topography and fuel as the three components that determine:the likelihood of a wildfire start its speed, direction and intensitytheir ability to extinguish it For the most part, the weather and topography are out of your hands.

Another strong area is KT, with 75 chute having some great pockets of snow all the way down. Again no real easy way down so it deters many of the weekend warriors away from the run. To kinda sum it all up, their still is alot of great snow in Tahoe to be found but you need to realize your limits and not push beyond them. Save yourself till the good stuff flies again, but if you can chance it, try some of the good north facing runs for great cold chalky snow.

When brothers attack at boreal we get stuff done.
Porters Team rider Andy Finch Invited me to join him in a photographic adventure and how could I pass that up? We headed up to Boreal to hit up the pipe cut by the true master Eric Rosenwald, when we got there the sun was out and the pipe was perfect. and no one in it besides this random guy hiking up the middle (who does that?).
Even though i was super bummed being hurt and seeing this beautiful pipe i was still super excited just to shoot some photos of my brother. fun fun fun. Andy was getting pumped starting out with some big Finch airs.
After that he did his thing stomping huge tens. switch 7s.
You know how he rolls.

Michelle writes
"Today was the first day of practice. The registration tent was packed with kids, all different ages and races. The course has four jumps and a variety of rail features. The jumps have a good flow. Lot's of kids over shooting the third and coming up short on the fourth, but everyone was still throwing down. Practice was on. There were a couple of injuries here and there due to sticky rails. The mountain police had a few power trips, but overall the day went well. Lot's of fun."

"Yo, it's the night before the slopestyle qualifiers and i gotta say, this is one of the most chill atmospheres i've ever been in. The majority of the riders are really nice and I'm hopin all goes well for me tomorrow! anything else? its so fun down here!!"
Best of luck to all the athletes especially our team riders out there trying for a win!

Xgames Qualifier Day 2 Wrap up
Day two, well day two was a wee bit warmer but still pretty cold by Tahoe standards. Also we arrived at 7:30 in the am and at that time I think it may have been hovering around a balmy 0 degrees.

Suzie Cuddy
From my perspective on the course the skier men were still way over shooting the gap and not thinking too far ahead to the double switch back that awaited them below. All in all our riders faired rather well. Devin the Dude, rode hard , but got caught up in a shoving match while the race went one below during the semis. Suzie on the other hand was pushed out by some mean older gals in the finals and didn't finish.

Sketchy
I was very impressed that our guys and gals showed such a good showing against some real skier nerds and the "ITFL" club that showed up. Honestly right around where I thought we should be. Tomorrow will be the snowboarders turn and we stand a better chance of climbing the ladder, but it all depends on who shows up and who really wants it.

Looking up at the course
I was given a chance to witness the event on one of the features standing along side Link, one of Porters backroom tech's. We watched as countless skiers and boarders tried to qualify for the weekends final. All I really have to say about that was the amount of carnage was amazing. I really only saw 5 boarders go by well, the rest were very intimidated by an extremely difficult course. A total of 48 spots were up for grabs for the weekend final and all the Porters Riders made the cut. Even, a one, Mr Shawn Farmer showed the young guns he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. On the women's skier side 9 were competing for 6 spots and only 5 made it down safe... of course Porters Rider Suzy Cuddy showed the women they have some good competition for the finals.

oh the carnage
I really wanted to stay for the men's skier qualifier but I was so cold that standing around that it was time to find a hot shower and a beer. Poor Link was out there all day in the weather as were all the G.E.M. guys.

Hitting the gap properly.
The weekend finals should be great to watch and as we go through the weekend I will be updating results and other happenings.
