Waiting....

Perfect fall weather hanging on as we sit waiting for the first real dump in the Tahoe Basin. There is a lot of energy out in the Pacific, and the remnants of Typhoon Lupit will become extra tropical, although the PacJet will steer all of this into BC and the PacNW. Basically expect the warm, sunny (partly cloudy at times) conditions to continue through the weekend. Our weather will turn much colder, with a small chance of light precip Monday night, as we head into Tuesday of next week as a strong trough establishes itself over the inter-mountain West. This will provide a N-NE flow for us which will bring the backdoor cold front. Details of how cold it will get still need to be worked out, but high temps in the 60s through the weekend will be replaced by high temps in the upper 40s by Tuesday in Truckee.
Enjoy this weekend. The colors are great and everything is still accessible.
