No snow, Go Surfing

11/6/09 8:19am
Current weather systems streaming North of Tahoe, but the swell is right on. High Surf Advisory has been issued for most of the NorCal coast. Swell heights are running 17-19ft @ 17sec with breaking surf of ~20ft+/ for tonight through Sunday. The swell has been generated and focused on NorCal due to the strong low pressure situated in the GoAK. Jet stream is running along 40N into the West Coast, just North of Tahoe. This can be seen very well in the 28km WV loop.

Basically our weather systems are brushing by to our North by a few hundred miles. This leaves us with breezy conditions and cool temps. Today, highs in the 50s with winds gusting to 30mph, 50mph on the ridges. Cooler temps arrive tomorrow and through the weekend with high temps in the 40s. Should be mostly sunny/ breezy through Sunday afternoon. Lassen and Shasta have been and will continue to see light precip, but nothing of substance. In Tahoe, looks like we will be dry through to the middle of next week, when the forecast holds little confidence as to what will happen. Been a lot of talk on the interwebs as to a stormy period hitting Tahoe in mid/late Nov with abundant precip and cold temps. Fingers crossed.
