Big Bubble
Lake Tahoe Area Weather and Snowpack Information
2/14/10 7:58pm
Pretty mellow here in the weather department. High pressure is firmly established over the Sierra. Above average temps and mostly sunny skies will prevail through Friday. We will see high clouds filter through, so it won't be the cleanest of ridges. Of note- Tuesday night might contain some light showers as we get tail whipped by some energy entering the PacNW and a weak backdoor cold front. Temps won't drop all that much, maybe getting back to average for Wednesday. On Tuesday night we could see some snow showers along the TSC with snow levels ~7500'. So yeah, high and dry with temps 5-10F above average. Temps in Truckee will be reaching 50F with 40s @ elevation.
Looking down the road the ridge should break down late in the week/ weekend with a blocking pattern developing in the GofAK by early next week. This should allow the Westerlies to reach CA bringing the storms. Smaller systems Friday night/ Sat/ Sun will primp the pump. Next week is looking interesting with North Pacific storms making their way to Baja/ Cabo? Huh?
Enjoy the sun and fabulous backcountry skiing. Corn on the South, wintery love on the North.
