February Thaw
Lake Tahoe Area Weather and Snowpack Information
2/10/10 7:33pm
Weak systems will brush by Tahoe over the next two days. We might see some flakes on Friday as the best moisture will impact Shasta, Lassen and points North. Ridge city starts Saturday as high pressure looks like it will park itself over CA for the following 7days+. PNA is going to stay positive and the storm track will favor the PacNW and the Eastern half of the U.S. for some time to come. We will have clouds every now and then, and temps will warm to above average for mid Feb. Night time lows will be in the teens in Truckee and upper 20s @8k. By Monday temps at elevation might not drop below freezing for a few days. High temps will be in the upper 40s by Saturday in Truckee and low 40s @ 8k.
The thaw is on. This fair stretch could persist for 7-10days. It's been a good run since December. Conditions are mid winter perfect right now and by Sunday we should enter a corn cycle on Southern aspects with unconsolidated snow/chalky buff on Northerly aspects. Great weather for Presidents week coming up. Enjoy the Spring tease.
