Lake Tahoe Area Weather and Snowpack Information
2/25/10 8:56pm
The Skinny: Snow and rain will start mid-day tomorrow and persist through Saturday morning. Today's guidance shows this system trending a little bit warmer and will suffer a bit more split, sending the best moisture and dynamics South of Tahoe. Mammoth and the Southern Sierra will see 3-4' of new snow. Tahoe will see 1-2' above 7000' and 2-3' above 9000' along the Western Crest. Tahoe City and Truckee will see far less due to snow levels starting out ~7000'+. 6" or so for Tahoe City with lesser amounts as one gets below 6000'.
Temps @ 8000' will top out just around freezing with temps near 40F in Truckee. High temps drop 5F for Saturday. Winds will be breezy, S-SW 15-25 with ridge winds 60->90+mph. Gusts on Saturday will be generally <50mph.
This is a typical California storm. Coming in hot and leaving cool. Cement with a blower topper. Have a great weekend!
