What about Phil?

2/1/10 8:07pm
Will Phil see himself tomorrow? My bets are on 6 more weeks, but we will see tomorrow morning. Outside of PA, Tahoe is more interesting.

Splitting system impacting CA this evening delivering little more than a few snow showers. Anywhere from nothing to 3" possible tonight along the crest and again Tues-Wed as another weak piece of energy will move ashore. Overall <.5" of H2O forecast for the West Crest of Tahoe over the next two days. Tuesday will have a breeze and a whole lot-o-clouds. Winds will be from the S-SW, and temps will be near 40F in Truckee, 30F @8k. Later in the week into the weekend we should see some better chances of decent snows. H2O forecast shows ~2" of precip Thursday night through Saturday. The GFS shows snow levels staying @ or below 6k through the event. Of course there is uncertainty as to what will eventually transpire but decent snow accumulations should occur above 7g's. Past this weekend the storm door seems to stay open with energy effecting the Sierra every couple days next week. Right now no whompers, just shortwaves every couple of days. More to come as we get closer. Regardless skiing/ riding is excellent right now, although there is a little crust down low.
