Snow today, cold smoke tomorrow

Lake Tahoe Area Weather and Snowpack Information

3/2/10 6:50am

Cloudy skies this morning and breezy winds along the TSC. Temps in the 20s @ elevation with SW-S winds gusting over 60mph. Bogies on the radar in the Central Valley starting to light up the Western Slope of the Northern Sierra. Only a few inches of snow forecast for today as the main dynamics will hit Shasta. So expect windy conditions and light snow along the crest.

As for Wednesday, the next part of this system, born from the Bering Sea swings into the region dropping snow levels to <4500' and has the potential to drop 1'+ of the blower powder. Very cold storm and favorable snow to water ratios. Temps in Truckee 41F today, 31F tomorrow. Mid 20s @ 8k today, mid teens tomorrow. Ridge winds will stay near 70mph+ for tonight and tomorrow. Total snowfall accumulations will near 2' along the TSC by late Wednesday.

The snow Wednesday/ Thursday will be blower, epic, over the head pure shizzle. Go get some! Call in sick for sure.

More snow Friday night/ Saturday.
