Winter continues, spring break next week

Lake Tahoe Area Weather and Snowpack Information

3/10/10 8:35pm

The good word is that snow quality was A+ today. Tomorrow the snow will change a bit as warm temps and increasing humidities manktify the lower elevations. Overall Thursday will be a great day to ski/ride nonetheless. If you can get out, do so. It will be sweet.

Next storm on tap for late Thursday night through Saturday morning. Forecast right now has a winter storm watch for the Western Slope of the Northern Sierra and snow advisories (maybe the WSW?) for Tahoe? Typical Sierra storm, starting off strong, wet and warm and ending with low snow levels and a nice topper. Expect rain to 6500' for a time Friday before the cold front drops it like it's hot. 1'+ possible along the TSC. 3-6" Tahoe City/ Truckee way. SW winds will be heavy Thursday night into Friday with ridge winds 100mph easy. Heaviest snow times out (right now) to overnight Friday-Saturday. H2O forecast tallies close to 1.5" along the Western Crest of the Tahoe Basin. More to come tomorrow as we get one last storm and then ridge city. Warm ridge city. Really warm ridge city. 60F in Truckee Tuesday? Say it ain't so.

Temps Thursday will top out in the 40s in Truckee, upper 30s @ 8k. Temps start to jump Sunday.
